Cars in German Town Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Officers stated they were contacted by a man who found a automobile in Hanau smeared with reddish liquid

Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.

Officers say they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.

The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then located numerous other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials report initial examinations indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no lead as to its source; officials are presently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the event," they stated.

City officials said they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.

A high-ranking political figure said the incident rendered him without words and required to be resolved promptly.

"This incident affects the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on online, mentioning the killing of nine people by a shooter targeting residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
